Mayan Ruins of Tulum
Posted On 12/26/2011 18:48:25 by GrapevineTravelAdventures
Jutting out into warm sky blue waters, Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula divides the Gulf of Mexico from the Caribbean Sea.  Once was the home of a great Mayan civilization,  Mayan ruins abound.  High on a cliff looming over the sea sits Tulum, one of the most compact and intact ruins around.   While visiting Tulum on a shore excursion from a Carnival cruise, we had the great fortune to have a tour guide of Mayan descent.  In addition to the knowledge passed from one... Resurrection of a Ship, Birth of a Company
Posted On 07/10/2011 23:51:17 by GrapevineTravelAdventures
One small ship cruise line goes under.  Most people would have seen their ships as fodder for the scrap yard.  Dan Blanchard of American Safari Cruises saw them as the means to start a new company.  With the complete overhaul of two ships formerly of Glacier Bay, InnerSea Discoverieswas born, a small-ship cruise line with a taste for adventure and exploration of wild places.   The first time I saw the Wilderness Discoverer she sat high and dry in a shipyard in Seattle. Planning a Vacation to Australia
Posted On 05/29/2011 18:57:41 by GrapevineTravelAdventures
Before heading across the ocean for a vacation to Australia, many questions need answers.  Start with the flight.  What matters most, price, length of the journey, or stops along the way? Research flights to find the one best suited.  If price matters most, the cheapest flights often stop several times and take well over 20 hours from start to finish.  The most direct flights may take as little as 14 – 16 hours, but could cost quite a lot.
When plans include s... Read More

So today I was on line looking for a job.  I found some jobs at Safeway in Roseville & Rocklin.  Their was an online application to be completed.  As I had never applied to Safeway I had to create a new online account.
I was dismayed to find that I could not apply for any of their positions without first providing my Social Security Number.
So Safe will know not only my age,  but be able to run a credit check on me,  an employee who review the applic... Read More

9/50 is Failing Grade for Grant Program
Posted On 08/25/2010 15:15:38 by CrockPotPatty
I am outraged at the current education policy in grant funding! 41 US States will not receive any funding from the "Race to the Top" program. Good intentions aside, only 9 states benefitted from this program.   9/50 = Failure   If anyone is still wondering why education is lacking, policy leads the way to failure.   This is one of the worst methods of funding needy schools. Raise your standards Washington!... Read More

White American English Only School
Posted On 03/19/2010 13:10:16 by California_Resident
California has now gone to far.
If I was to demand a "Charter School" for "White Americans" where the "Confederate Flag" will be displayed and where "Southern History" would be taught.  I would be called a "White Supremacist".  Then I guess there are Hebrew & Hmong Supremacist's.
A new charter school in Los Angeles will be a "Hebrew Language" school. http://www.kcra.com/education/22889900/detail.html

Cost of Medication

I am a 60 year old man with high blood pressure and cholesterol.
I am currently taking 60 mg. of Lipitor per day,  which is 1 1/2 pills of 40 mg.
150 pills which is a 100 day supply cost me $700.00 or $2,800.00 per year.
I could purchase Lipitor 120 pills for a cost of only $245.00 or I could purchase 120 Generic Lipitor pills for a cost of only $132.00 in England.  If I purchased the name brand this would cost me only $980.00 per year.  If I purchased t... Read More
