Notes on The Responsibility of Intellectuals
Category: Religion and Philosophy
This topic is one of Philosophy. I enjoyed the essay but found certain ideas expressed that should be reviewed critically. For example:

1) War Guilt
2) A Percieved Position of Status for the Intellectual
3) The Priviledged Minority
4) Classification that Americans are Forthright
5) The Duty to Persuade
6) List of False Prophets with examples of semantics to support an administrations position
7) Classification of Americans showing great disregard for the suffering and misery of the lower orders
8) Distaste for the discussion of the Overthrow of Castro during the Bay of Pigs

I could have continued making notes but found my critism continued to grow and I could no longer afford to have my opinion affect my perception of this argument. The argument being one that seems to hold some validity.

While I assume all of the qualities of intellectuals are in fact, Priviledge, Status, War Guilt, Minority Status, and continuing with Americans and their Duty to persuade, use of semantics, great disregard for others, and the last thing I could read, a distaste for the distain held against the Castro Government during the Bay of Pigs; I am certain the responsibility falls directly on all the intellectuals.

Were the choices in history made by the lowly, perhaps all the qualities listed above would be dissolved and no more than a sting and insult to all of mankind. If only the lowly were the intellectuals and the ones who make decisions, these great acts of War would be left for lovers and Trojans. The tantilizing need for conflict and arousals of passion would be all but extinguished in man. There would be no more misunderstanding or difference of opinion driving division between people.
If only superman were here.

I have no further comment.
