Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) announced the award of $127.5 million dollars in Stimulus Money for the purchase and installation of smart electric meters.
I have no problem with the award to SMUD or updating the electric grid, I do however have a problem with SMUD teaming up with Landis+Gyr of Switzerland for this project.
This is Federal Taxpayer Money, and I want to know why SMUD is awarding contracts to a Company in Switzerland for the production of the electric meters and not to a US company.
I firmly believe that ALL US Taxpayer Funded Stimulus Money should be spent only purchasing 100% American Made Products and the means down to every last bolt and screw.
