The Roseville Salvation Army is reporting a food shortage due to the increased number of families seeking assistance. They currently provide emergency food boxes stocked with enough food to feed a family of four for a week. In the wake of the current economic downturn, demand for assistance has increased exponentially.
The Salvation Army is seeking the public's help to restock their food pantry or they fear they'll have to turn starving families away. During the month of September, The Salvation Army of Roseville provided nearly 350 food boxes to families in need throughout South Placer County, a 60% increase compared to this same time last year.
The Salvation Army is asking for donations of non-perishable food items. There are certain "staples" provided in every box including:
Soup
Canned Vegetables
Spaghetti Noodles
Spaghetti Sauce
Macaroni & Cheese
Stew
Baby Food
Canned Fruit
Canned Meat
Canned Tuna fish
Peanut Butter & Jelly
Cereal
Rice
Dried Beans
Treats for Kids
