Hello,My name is XXX and I am writing this letter to inform you of the complete and utter disaster I have had with Wells Fargo, Wells Fargo Fraud Department and the Wells Fargo Executive Customer Service.
In April 2008, a client of mine who also banks at Wells Fargo in another state, Called to let me know that there accounts had counterfeit checks written against them. This client closed all of there accounts and had new accounts opened at Wells Fargo.
As a precaution I contacted the Fraud department of Wells Fargo
and had Fraud Alerts placed on all of our business and personal
accounts. In May 2008, my client again had counterfeit checks written
on their NEW accounts.
In May 2008, I received an email alert on my internet banking telling me that I had signed up for Wire Transfers out of my account. I did NOT.
I then placed a second fraud alert on all of my accounts.
I also purchased Identity Theft Insurance at a cost of $200.00.
In June 2008, I received a call from your Fraud Department, asking if the check in the amount of $1,399.00 that was in process was written by me. I stated NO. They then asked if the other 3 checks in the same amount the had cleared that same day were written by me. I again stated NO.
I then went to my local branch and completed an Affidavit of check fraud.I then went to a new bank and opened new accounts.I then went to my local police department and filed a police report.
The next week I received a call from the Wells Fargo Branch Manager at the Branch in Rancho Murrieta, Ca. telling me they had a person trying to cash a check in the amount of $1,399.00 and was it ok to cash the check. I informed the Branch manager that the check was counterfeit. The Branch managers response was "what would you like me to do", my response was "call the police and have them arrested". The check included a Wells Fargo Logo that at first glance you could tell was not correct and the check was signed by a
person with a different last name than mine.
The next week I received a call from the Wells Fargo Branch Manager at the Branch in Oakland, Ca. telling me they had a person trying to cash a check in the amount of $1,399.00 and was it ok to cash the check. I informed the Branch manager that the check was counterfeit. The Branch managers response was "what would you like me to do", my response was "call the police and have them arrested". The check included a Wells Fargo Logo that
at first glance you could tell was not correct and the check was signed by a person with a different last name than mine.
I left open 3 different credit card accounts. On November 12, 2008, I received an email from Wells Fargo telling me that I changed all of my internet
security questions. Again I called your fraud department, but they
could not identify me because of the security questions. I then went
to the local branch after 3 1/2 hours of talking to your Fraud
Department and Executive Customer Service I walked away shaking my
head.
I was able to cancel only 2 of the 3 credit card accounts.I asked for the IP address of the computer that was used to change my internet security questions. I was refused stated this would breach the Wells Fargo security measures.
As a person who also owns an internet multimedia company I understand the backend of a website looking at the site session and providing the IP address does NOT breach your security. Do you think I am stupid, I am aware that with the IP address I can go to my local small claims court and file against John
Doe and have s subpoena issued to the Internet Provider. Upon receipt
of the required information from the Internet Provider I would then have the name and address of the computer owner to revise the name from John Doe.
Today I received a call again from you Fraud Department, asking me to return their call, I did but because they cannot verify my identity they told me to go to my local branch. I think NOT.
I cannot afford to lose another 4 hours of pay.Every time a call is received from Wells Fargo, the police or the DA, I must leave work. I am paid an hourly wage with NO BENIFITS which means that I am docked my hourly wage.
I am out over $10,000.00 no including the ill effects to my health from this.I cannot understand why Well Fargo will not assist is the identification of these person(s). Again as an owner of an Internet Multimedia company I understand how easy it is to restrict access of IP addresses.
I submitted this via email to the following executives at Wells Fargo (John.G.Stumpf@wellsfargo.com, Howard.I.Atkins@wellsfargo.com, James.M.Strother@wellsfargo.com, Richard.D.Levy@wellsfargo.com, Mark.C.Oman@wellsfargo.com, David.A.Hoyt@wellsfargo.com, Carrie.L.Tolstedt@wellsfargo.com, Michael.J.Loughlin@wellsfargo.com), not only did they NOT respond, they did not even open and read my email.
