SB 401, has been signed into law on April 12 by Governor Schwarzenegger. This legislation allows California taxpayers of owner-occupied homes to immediately exclude from their 2009 through 2012 income tax returns the amount of
mortgage debt forgiven by the lender in a Short Sale.
