OFFLINE

I know that Provident Living is a term coined by the Church of Later Day Saints.

But we can all take a lesson from the Church of Later Day Saints.

In these current economic times,  just think if you had 1,  2,  3 years of food stored and did not have to purchase any or only a small amount of food.

You do not need to be a member of the LDS Church to purchase from the Cannery.

This is a one year plan,  if you have a local LDS Cannery you can complete this sooner also if you share the cost of a Food Saver Machine this will also help.

Other items to consider adding to your food storage plan,  Pasta,  Condensed Soups, Dried Soups,  Vinegar,  Coffee,  Tea,  Sugar,  Honey,

Remember that storage does not just mean Food,  you will need to add things like Toothpaste,  Mouthwash,  Toilet Paper,  Soap,  Shampoo,  you local dollar store is a great place to stock up on these items.

You will also need a well stocked First Aid Kit (make your own and save).  I use portable file buckets and use my First Aid Kit everyday so the contents never go out of date.  Items for your First Aid Kit should include Alcohol,  Hydrogen Peroxide, Band Aids,  Antacids,  Elastic Bandages,  Masks,  Gloves,  Cotton Balls,  Cough Drops, Neosporin Ointment,  Pain Medicine,  Vaseline,  Q Tips,  Zip Lock Bags,

Keep adding to your food storage with items you need,  remember to use the FIFO System (First In First Out System) (use the oldest first).

You may also want to consider as money is available to purchase are storage baskets from you local dollar store to hold non food items you purchase such as toothpaste, dental floss,  candles,  wooden matches,  soap,  shampoo,  you can place these items on your shelving.

You may also want to consider as money is available to purchase are Food Seeds, Solar Dehydrator,  Solar Cooker,  you can purchase seeds for food however you can not purchase seeds for Salt or Pepper so consider adding extra of these to your food storage plan.

Consider planting a new fruit tree each year.

I know this all sounds overwhelming,  however if you work with other family members or friends each family member or friend can purchase one of the high dollar items such as the Food Saver machine or the Solar Cookers you will be working together and helping each other.

Other items you need are Oil Lamps,  Lamp Oil,  Bucket to use as a Toilet,  Crank Radio, Vitamins,   Space Blankets,  and other such items.
