When is the State of California going to wake up and take Financial Crimes for the serious crime that they are ?

I am sick and tired of seeing persons who committed serious financial crimes get off with a slap on the hand.

Take the case of Ex Sacramento Sheriff Lieutenant Michael Patrick Leary who committed grand theft and forging property transfer.

Michael Patrick Leary was offered a deal to plead guilty to a misdemeanor and gets 3 years of informal probation and 180 days in jail (which he get to serve at home detention with an ankle monitor.

Albert J. Cipoletti who was CEO of Ingentra HR Services of Hauppauge, NY had a contract to perform payroll services for Sacramento County.

Albert J. Cipoletti pleased guilty to stealing 17 million dollars of the payroll taxes.

Albert J. Cipoletti is facing 20 years in prison,  however with his plea deal it looks like he will get sentence that is a lot lighter.
