WASHINGTON -- Congress plans to spend $550 million to buy eightjets, a substantial upgrade to the fleet used by federal officials at atime when lawmakers have criticized the use of corporate jets bycompanies receiving taxpayer funds.

The purchases will help accommodate growing travel demand bycongressional officials. The planes augment a fleet of about two dozenpassenger jets maintained by the Air Force for lawmakers,administration officials and military chiefs to fly on government tripsin the U.S. and abroad.

All I can ask is WHY?????    With the economy the way it is how cancongress really think it is okay to spend $550 million on 8 jets?  Arethey not the same congress that attacked Corporate America for givingtheir employees bonuses when they received bail out money?  What isgoing on in CONGRESS??????  Does President Obama really think that wedo not pay attention with what he is doing?????
